Remembrance Service 2024
The Rights Respecting Ambassadors joined the Parish Council and local residents for a short memorial service in the village. Pupils made and laid wreaths as well as collectively wrote a poem to promote peace and remember those who paid the ultimate price for our freedoms.
A Recipe for Peace
Gather your ingredients with care.
First is Joy – this must be used sparingly and shared around.
Second is Love – gather as much as you can, you can never have enough.
Third is Friendship – this warms the heart and turns strangers into good friends.
Fourth is Hope – This should be in every batch you make, including yourself.
Fifth is – Remembering, remembering those who paid the ultimate price.
Take these ingredients and mix them well
Remembering those who stumbled and fell.
20 minutes in the oven is likely to do
The fragrance will fill both me and you.
To top off the cake we need a finish
So pour over thanks, don’t let it diminish.
The past is there for us all to see
Learn fast, learn well from our history.
Like a birthday cake we offer this rhyme
To share and digest and live lives that are fine.
